What you will learn In this workshop, you’ll be guided through the process of making a traditional hardcover book using the case-binding technique. You’ll learn how to fold and prepare the papers, create signatures, sew them together to make a book block, and construct a hardcover using boards and book cloth. Your finished book can be used as a sketchbook, notebook, portfolio, journal, or as a starting point for an artist’s book. It also makes a thoughtful handmade gift. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have your own completed hardcover book to take home, along with the practical knowledge and techniques to continue making case-bound books independently using simple tools and materials.
